Objective:
provide an opportunity for travellers to become guilt-free by voluntarily paying to offset their
Carbon Footprint.
Process:
have an invitation on Web site booking page (or a link) to participate in a forest regeneration
project. Write an introduction, overview, features & benefits of such a programme. Include a
Carbon Offset calculator.

Project:
Short term – channel funds received either to Global Volunteer Network or Landcare Research.
Medium term – with adequate transparency & controls in place purchase suitable land close to
NZNT area of operation & channel funds to the Visitors own Forest Regeneration Project.
Provide an opportunity for visitors to select tree species, consign a GPS location for its planted
site, a reference to Google Earth & create a photographic history for the donor to follow on a
web site.
Make provision for visitors to purchase Conservation Holidays to work on the project.

rubbish collected, returned, reused and recycled.

only provided facilities are used at regular intervals.
Water Protection:
travel with all water requirements & use biodegradable detergent.
Visit carefully:
leave no trace of visit.
Keep to tracks:
if they exist to lessen the chance of damaging fragile plants.
Consideration:
will be given to all other users of our back country.
Respect our Cultural heritage:
all places of spiritual or historical significance will be treated with consideration and respect.

Recycling, composting, and re-using.
Chemical-free, biodynamic gardening.
Conversion to energy efficient bulbs.
Insulation, water & energy conservation, natural gas heating & cooking.
Active owners & growers of a sustainable exotic forest (carbon offset).
In the business:
Home office, buy local.
Active involvement in Search And Rescue & trapping noxious animals & the establishment of
the Waimarama Brook Sanctuary.
Support the Abel Tasman Birdsong Trust.
Established off-season income stream.
Operations:
Adhere to a regular maintenance schedule for the Mercedes Viano which exceeds the Euro4 standard
(safest, most fuel efficient vehicle with the highest environmental standards.)
Small groups only on irregular visits to different areas.
Include an education & interpretation component on each journey.
Visit & support only businesses & communities that actively support sustainability.
Provide an opportunity for visitors to buy carbon credits. Contributions to the purchase &
re-establishment of native forest with ecological principles.
